about my work

There are many strands to my creative process which intersect and re-emerge, most notably the interactions between humans and animals, birds and plants. These stories and interactions can be relayed and replayed many times over in various scenarios.

Storytelling is an essential aspect to my work, everything I create has a narrative even if it is not always explicitly indicated. I enjoy playing with characters that appear, often subconsciously, to form ideas about identity and belonging.

My approach to creating work is the same whether it is for a solo show, commission or for illustration – thought, care and consistency.

I work mainly on handmade watercolour paper in a variety of water based media and soft pastel.

Key influencers are Renaissance and folk art but generally a very wide ranging eclectic list too detailed to mention here.

I studied at:

  • Harrow School of Art                      1988-1991       BA(Hons)
  • Central St Martins School of Art    1991-1993       Post Grad
  • Central St Martins School of Art    1993-1995      MA
